Genocide is defined by Merriam-Webster dictionary as the deliberate and systematic destruction of a racial, political, or cultural group. Genocide a social injustice because everyone has the right to believe in what they want, that everyone has the right to live, and who decides if someone is right or wrong. Genocide is a crime no matter what the cause of it is. My goal is to show why genocide is a social injustice and a few examples of genocide in the past. Everyone has the right to believe in what they want to believe in. No matter who you are, you have the right to your opinion. The First Amendment of  the U.S. Constitution says that, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” That means that the people have the freedom of opinion. In the past, there have been many examples of genocide. Usually, when genocide happens, other serious crime also happens. Some examples are the Darfur genocide, the  Rwandan genocide, and one of the most famous genocides, the Holocaust. All of these are atrocities, where some of the crimes were rape, slaughter, human experimentation, and starvation. The Holocaust is one of the most famous genocides. The Nazis came to power in Germany, and since they believed that the Jewish people and other groups were inferior, they decided to have an ethnic cleansing, in which they were all killed. In the beginning, they were just boycotting Jewish goods, but in the end, they were rounding them up into concentration camps where many starved to death and much more were killed.  Many people were killed just because they were disliked and had different beliefs. Who has the right to decide what is right and wrong? What gives them the right to do that? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, no matter who they are. If you disagree with what someone says, it doesn’t mean that you are right or better than them. You should be able to believe what you want to believe without fearing the consequences. If you want to say something, you should have the right to say it.In conclusion, genocide is a social injustice. Genocide is wrong because everyone has the right to believe in what they want, that everyone has the right to live, and who decides if someone is right or wrong.  Genocide has happened many times in the past, and it can happen again in the future. It must be prevented, for it is an atrocity. Genocide is a terrible crime, and it should never happen again.
